Builder optimism hit a 10-year high in September, according to the National Association of Homebuilders' "Housing Market Index".
The index climbed to a high of 64 during the month, with any reading above 50 indicating most builders generally see conditions in the single family market as positive. And home builders have the brightest outlook in years, thanks to rising employment and low mortgage rates.
According to Blerina Uruci, an economist at Barclays, "The latest reading [of the index] suggests robust sentiment among home builders and bodes well for our expectation of further improvement in housing activity during the rest of 2015".
And, the most recent MetroStudy report on the Dallas - Fort Worth market indicated that local housing starts were up 9.6% from the previous quarter.
